Ivo Pogoreliĉh is well known Croatian pianist. He was born on 20 October 1958. He started learning Piano in Belgrade at a very young age of just seven. At the age of twelve, Ivo got an invitation from Moscow for his further musical studies at Central Music School with Evgeny Timakin. He completed his graduation from the Moscow Conservatory. In 1976, Ivo started his intense studies to learn Piano from his teacher and Pianist Aliza Kezeradze. Aliza passed on to him the tradition of the Liszt-Siloti school. Ivo married Aliza in 1980 and remained a happy couple untill her death in 1996.
In 1978, Pogoreliĉ superb performance won him, the Casagrande Competition held in Terni, Italy. Later in 1980, he won the Montreal International Music Competition presenting his wonderful performance. Ivo was recognized and headlined for a prize which didn't come to his store. In 1980, he participated in the International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition held in Warsaw but was eliminated in the third round. The Argentine pianist Martha Argerich left the jury in protest entitling Ivo, a genius.

In 1981, Pogoreliĉ delivered his debut performance in New York's Carnegie Hall. The same year, he performed in London. For the last 25 years, Ivo has been performing numerous solo recitals other than various associations with renowned groups and orchestras. Some of the major orchestras he worked with include the Berlin Philharmonic, the Orchestre de Paris, Boston Symphony Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and many more. Ivo started playing for Deutsche Grammophon and in 1982 he became an important part of the band and one of their exclusive artists. He has contributed his skill to recordings by Mozart, Mussorgsky, Prokofiev, Rachmaninoff, Ravel, Bach, Scarlatti, Scriabin, Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Liszt, , and Tchaikovsky.
Pogoreliĉh led the foundation in Croatia in 1986, to support and develop the careers of young performers from his homeland. Since 1989, the Ivo Pogoreliĉ Festival in Bad Wörishofen provide a nurturing platform to young artists by giving them the opportunity to perform with notable and well known artists. In December 1993, "International Solo Piano Competition" was formed by Ivo, as a joint venture with the Ambassador Foundation in Pasadena, California. The contest aims to help young and enthusiastic musicians develop their career. The first prize of the contest has an amount of USD 100,000 as a reinforcement for the young artists. Ivo has done lot of charity work to help and provide medical support to people for fighting against diseases like cancer and multiple sclerosis. He was honored by calling "Ambassador of Goodwill" by UNESCO in 1988.
