Born James Anthony Brown, J. Anthony Brown is a well known American comedian, Actor and Radio Personality who has achieved international fame for his talent. J. Anthony Brown was born in Columbia, South Carolina. 30 years back, Brown initiated his career in Atlanta, Georgia, with a strong determination, when he relocated from his home in South Carolina. Brown was aspired to be a clothing designer before switching to comedy routine after stepping into a local ‘gong show' contest in a local nightclub, Mr. V's Figure Eight. After seeing his performance, he was invited back to host the show frequently. Brown became a fixture at the hot spot, performing for the next two years with the club.
He quit Atlanta and left for Los Angeles in 1989 to pursue his career in television. He promptly landed a prime gig as a staff writer for "The Arsenio Hall Show". This show was most the popular, nationally-syndicated late-night talk show. After working for 5 years on this stint, Brown ventured into other spectacular writing assignments for sitcoms like Parenthood and Me and the Boys.
He has dazzled his fans and audience with his performance on Vibe, Def Jam, It's Showtime at the Apollo, Evening at the Improv and Oprah, and played recurring roles on Moesha, Living Single and Parenthood. In addition to these regular roles, he also played some guest appearances on The Parkers and Sparks. His motion picture work includes roles in How to Be a Player and Pay the Price. He is also credited for winning gigs warming up audiences at the tapings of Martin, Sister, Sister, Roc and Hangin' with Mr. Cooper. Brown is awarded with the prestigious Peabody Award and the NAACP Image Award for his outstanding performance and amazing talent.

 Currently, Brown is a renowned and famous radio personality on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, which is a nationwide radio show aired out of Dallas Texas. When he is asked about his career shuffling in stand-ups and radio, Brown Says, "At first, I begged a lot to be on the radio. I did it free for five years KGLH. That's where I honed my craft and it taught me how to do radio. There's a quickness involved that's not in stand up. You have only so much time. I learned that very quickly. The guy I was on the radio with wanted to be funny. He didn't want me to be funny. He had my mic turned down low. It was good we were not in the same room so he couldn't tell me to shut up."
One of his signature act is "Murdering a hit" where he sings a parody of a hit song. He is also a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
