Jakalope is a group of talented Canadian industrial/pop singers. The band came into the being in the year 2003, by one of the most popular and famous Canadian industrial musician and producer Dave "Rave" Ogilvie. He is more popular for his work in studio performing such acts as Marilyn Manson, Skinny Puppy, David Bowie, and Nine Inch Nails.
Jakalope was started as an open-concept project in the year 2003. It was headed by Dave Ogilvie. The main aim of his concept was to bring out a new kind musical genre that was rooted in industrial music, for which generally Ogilvie is popular, and that which will be able to flow melodiously between searing rock and melodic pop. While he was practicing with the music, it was during this time that Ogilvie came to know the vocal styling of Katie B. At that particular time she was working with Bryan Adams' The Warehouse Studio in Vancouver, British Columbia. They became friends and came to know that they shared the same interest and so Katie was invited by Ogilvie to join Jakalope and took her position as the front woman in the center stage of Jakalope. Although the lineup of the bands keeps on changing due to the nature of the band, nevertheless the core members of the band are Katie B, Phil Caivano (Monster Magnet), Matt Warhurst (SNFU), Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails), Sean Stubbs, Anthony Valcic (Fu) and "The Three Dons" Don Harrison, Don Binns and Don Short. They all were the former members of Sons of Freedom and 2preciious.

Artist Biography - Jakalope
|
The group released their debut album in the year 2004 known as "It Dreams". The album was a immediate hit and also included the hit singles as well as the videos Pretty Life and Feel It. The third single was Go Away, although the video gained considerable fans, but didn't received much play on MuchMusic. As compared to the two previous singles, the single was not that hit. It is pertinent to mention here that, for the recording of this album, they collaborated with a host of other guest musicians such as Trent Reznor who was responsible for production work, writing song as well as instrumentation, Kat Bjelland, the members of Sloan, Monster Magnet and Malhavoc. Not only this, they also received the Juno Award for Best CD/DVD Artwork Design of the Year in 2005, for the cover art of the album. The cover art was designed by artist Vincent Marcone. After that Jakalope released "It Dreams" in the year 2005, in Japan. In the same year, Jakalope returned back to Orange Records to record their next album "Born 4". "Upside Down (and I Fall)" was the first single of the album that was released in the year 2006 but in the radio. Some controversy rose among the Orange Records and Jakalope regarding the release of the dates, but finally the album saw the light of the day in the month of October. The guests who features in the second album are Allie Sheldan (Rio Bent), Thom D'arcy of Small Sins, Bob Pantella (Monster Magnet), Alex Lifeson (Rush), Jeremy Fisher and Bill Rieflin (Ministry, REM, Married To Music). The co-producer of the album is Trent Reznor and the designer of the CD for "Born 4" is Vincent Marcone.
