Artist Biography - Jars Of Clay
|
The band self-released their demo CD, "Frail," and soon record companies were running after them. This motivated the band to shift base to Nashville permanently. The band lost a member when Bronleewe left but was replaced Lowell's childhood friend Matt Odmark. After considering many offers the band settled with the smaller Essential label. The band released their self titled album and its single "Flood" became a huge hit. The song became a major crossover hit on mainstream rock radio, modern rock radio, and the pop charts. The success of the single "Flood" pushed the sales of "Jars of Clay" past the double-platinum mark, which was an amazing accomplishment for a Christian band.
Jars of Clay signed up with with British producer Steve Lipson, and released "Much Afraid" in 1997. The record was a huge success and won the group their maiden Grammy for Best Pop/Contemporary Gospel Album. The album also went platinum. But Much Afraid did not reach the level of success that its predecessors had achieved. The band came back with their next installment in1999 titled, "If I Left the Zoo." The album was well received. Jars of Clay released their self-produced fourth album, "The Eleventh Hour," in early 2002 and followed it up with a live DVD. The subsequent saw Jars of Clay releasing two more albums, their double-disc set "Furthermore: From the Studio/From the Stage" and their fifth album, "Who We Are Instead" in November 2003.
