Jason Castro is the singer songwriter out of Rockwell, Texas who first made a name for himself on American Idol in 2008. He was voted off on May 7th, but his music career would not end after his exit from the nationally televised competition. He began selling Jason Castro tickets for a newly energized music career, relying on his exposure on Fox to begin his career seriously at the age of 21.
He was born in Dallas and raised in nearby suburb Rowlett. Castro is the first generation American, with his parents naturalizing from Columbia. A bright student in school, he is also a bright student as a musician, teaching himself to play drums and guitar. His voice is his very own natural talent, as he had no previous voice training before auditioning for American Idol. In fact, before American Idol, he had only sung in front of a live audience five times.
Jason Castro's elimination from American Idol led to appearances on a myriad of television talk shows, from Live with Regis and Kelly to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. His claim to fame was his rendition of Hallelujah.
After his time on American Idol and touring with the American Idols Live Tour in 2008, he recorded Hallelujah as a single and joined the music management firm Hard8Mgt. These developments led to several concert dates with his backing band, The Heavy Steadies and a Christmas single.
