Jazz is Dead is composed of four veterans of jazz fashion and is the Grateful Dead cover-band. The members of these band are Alphonso Johnson (Weather Report) as the bassist, T. Lavitz (Dixie Dregs) as the keyboardist, Jimmy Herring (Aquarium Rescue Unit) as the guitarist and Billy Conham (Mahavishnu Orchestra) as the drummer. They released their first CD on Blue Light Rain.
