Joshua Gracin came to the limelight when he won the fame as the contender in the 2003 edition of American Idol, placed in the fourth place. When he was contesting for the much coveted title, American Idol, he was already working as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps. Joshua Gracin full name is Joshua Mario "Josh" Gracin. He was born in the year 1980 on October 18 ans is an American country music singer. He has grown up in Westland, Michigan. He had interest in music from a very young age. He started playing music in high school. He was influenced by Garth Brooks among others. After completing graduation, he joined the Marine Corps. At Marine Corps, he became a supply clerk at Camp Pendleton, posted outside San Diego. When American Idol was launched in America, he was very eager to join, but due to some problems, he couldn't entered the first session. When American Idol came up in the Second session, he joined the contest. When other contestant's opted for Idol's pop and other R&B, he stood out because of his ongoing military service and his country voice. In the contest, he performed strongly, whenever he could he sang with a country flavor. His only disadvantage was that he found it difficult to sing in other genres. Whatever may be the case, he was able to attract a large number of audiences as well as judges. One of the strictest judge was Simon Cowell, but he was able to win over him. Before coming to the show, he had to ask permission from the Marines. Since it was that time of the year when other Marine units were being sent to Iraq, it was difficult to ask permission, but as luck would have it, his unit was not selected for deployment. Crucial moment arrived in his life, when only five singers were left and one has to be voted out. Gracin appeared uncomfortable, but instead of him Trenyce was voted out. Anyways, after one week, he too was voted out in the following week too, ending in the fourth place.

His album was quite a hit and he shipped more than 750,000 units and was certified Gold by the RIAA. The album has also got the #1 smash "Nothin' To Lose" and the Top 5 hits "Stay With Me (Brass Bed) and "I Want To Live." He also contributed a song, a version of Three Times a Lady, to the American Idol, Season 2 soundtrack CD. He came to be known for his energetic and lively concert performances. He is very much down to earth and is known for signing autographs for anybody who wants one. Gracin sang the song "Working for the Weekend" to the Herbie, in the year 2005. Apart from this, he also sang on "When I See an Elephant Fly" on the Jim Brickman album The Disney Songbook. In March 2006, he released a new single entitled "Favorite State Of Mind", this is the first single that was released in June this year. His parents Mario and Brenda Gracin still live in Michigan along with sisters Stacy, April, Melissa and Kristen. Joshua and his wife Ann Marie Gracin moved to Franklin, Tennessee. They have a daughter, Briana Marie Gracin who was born on March 30, 2002, and a son, Landon Joshua Gracin who was born on August 4, 2005. Currently they are expecting their third child.
