This charismatic singer/artist was born on February 27, 1981 in Los Angeles, California. The musical bug bit him early when he was in seventh grade but he held back for a while to pursue his studies. He majored in musical theater in 1998 from the Interlochen Arts Camp and commenced his formal training in vocals outside school. Impressed with 17 years old Josh's unusual talent, his coach introduced him to renowned producer and his future mentor David Foster. This was the turning point for Josh and also marked the beginning of his actual musical journey. He began working for Foster as a rehearsal singer gaining a lot of experience and exposure at popular events. He got the chance to rehearse "The Prayer" with the highly acclaimed singer Celine Dion at the 1999 Grammy Awards. Alongside, he graduated from the Los Angeles Country High School for the Arts in 1999. Mightily impressed with his stunning performances as a rehearsal singer, Foster secured a recording contract for him at Warner Bros. Records under his own imprint. Groban's very first album showed his love for classics and got rave reviews. Around this time, Groban enthralled the audiences with his performance during Sarah Brightman's ‘La Luna' tour. He also lent his vocals to the movie soundtrack ‘A.I.: Artificial Intelligence' (2001) apart from performing for many benefit shows including ‘The Family Celebration' which was co-hosted by President Clinton and his wife, Hillary Rodham Clinton along with David E. Kelly and his wife, Michelle Pfeiffer. His spectacular performance at this event landed him a role in the popular TV series Ally McBeal.
