The brothers Cedric "K-Ci" Hailey and Joel "Jo-Jo" Hailey, formed the R&B group and named it as K-Ci and JoJo. Both of them hail from Charlotte, North Carolina. Prior to forming this band, they were also a part of the R&B group, Jodeci with the DeGrate brothers: DeVante and Dalvin, that topped the charts with their music. K-Ci and JoJo used to sing in a Pentecostal church and also toured with them in the south, while they were kids. When they grew up they met Donald DeGrate, Jr. (DeVante Swing) and Dalvin DeGrate (Mr. Dalvin) and found they shared the same passion and they seriously started talking of forming a band.
When DeVante turned 16, he went to Minneapolis to join the organization of Prince, but was turned down. He then met K-Ci and JoJo and talked them in joining him in New York, so they could together show the demo tapes that showed his production skills and also their singing. Then, Dalvin, too decided to join them. Later the tape was taken by Heavy D who gave it to the CEO of Uptown Records, Andre Harrell. He liked the songs so much that he signed the band, that named themselves Jodeci. proved to be the starting point for many who want to pursue careers in music, such as Missy Elliott, Timbaland, and Ginuwine. Known for their passionate and charming music, the group has come out with a series of singles and albums, which was hit and also went platinum. Their debut album was "Forever My Lady". "K-Ci" Hailey, was the main lead singer and Joel "Jo-Jo" Hailey, was the second lead singer in the group. They topped the R&B singles charts with such songs as "Stay", "Come & Talk To Me", and "Cry for You".

In 1996, K-Ci and Jo-Jo, together sang the song "How Could You" for the movie Bulletproof. In the same year, they were the guest artists in 2Pac's number-one R&B hit "How Do U Want It". The song topped the Billboard Hot 100. In 1997, they released "Love Always" that brought in two top-ten R&B hits: "You Bring Me Up" and "Last Night's Letter" and also "All My Life". For three weeks continuously, "All My Life", as the number-one song on the Hot 100. The next album was "Love Always" that sold for four million copies.
In the year 1999, they released, "It's Real" that was a major hit . The single "Tell Me It's Real" climbed at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard's R&B charts. In the year, 2000, they released "X" , the Roman numeral was used to celebrate the the tenth anniversary of Haileys in the music business. With the song "Crazy", they hit the Billboard Hot 100, with a bang.
They released their fourth album, "Emotional", was released in the year 2002, which was a minor hit. In the year 2005, K-Ci and JoJo released a greatest hits album. Recently, K-Ci has released his debut solo album entitled "My Book".
