Kate Nash is the British anti-folk singer, making a splash in the U.S. after effectively conquering the UK with her indie pop sound that juxtaposes, soft melodic composition with, at times, spiteful lyrics. Kate Nash tickets have sold for her festival dates and her headlining gigs since she broke onto the scene as a 19-year-old singer in 2007.
She was born on July 6, 1987 in London and eventually turned a mild childhood enjoyment with music into a career path. She made the jump after going to a party attended by the Rock and Roll King of Ruislip and enjoying the lifestyle. Kate Nash picked up the piano and the electric guitar and overcame early rejections to finally push her way into the mainstream in 2007.
Her 2007 debut album Made Of Bricks went platinum in the UK and the single Foundations peaked at number two in the charts. She had previously tried to make a name for herself on MySpace and eventually earned the opportunity to play before a bigger audience with much better distribution of her recorded work. Kate Nash released two more Top-40 singles and eventually had some cross over appeal in the United States.
