Only 17 but smart enough, Kerry quit the abuse and concentrated all his energy and passion to his first love, music. A friend of his introduced him to slide guitar. With some help from his older brother, Kerry, the true natural learnt the instrument in just a day.
In 1998, destiny smiled upon him with a chance meeting with Marty Balin of Jefferson Airplane/Starship who wanted Kerry to be featured in his own tour. Kerry agreed to tour with the rock and roll greats for 3 months which eventually resulted in 5 years. Realizing the need to remain true to his musical influences (Lightning Hopkins), BB King, Eric Clapton and Mississippi John Hurt) Kerry branched out of the band. Staying true to his love for the Blues, he assembled a magical group of musicians and in 1995 was born the Kerry Kearney band. Band members included Frank Celenza on bass guitar, Eileen Murphy and Charlie Wolfe. Frank Celenza studied Afro-American music, double bass and has played in country, blues, rock and jazz bands. Mostly playing in clubs with his brother he settled to play with Cloud Williams for 11 years. Celenza also played for 2 years in Nyc with blues artists like "Sonny Terry & Brownie McGee" keyboardist Bob Gaddy.
Eileen "little steamroller" Murphy, besides being an exceptional drummer also enlisted in the US Army in 1986. Her service led her to Europe just before she joined the 82nd Airbourne Division Band where she was deployed to Desert Storm for 6 months. After her service she studied at the Drummers Collective in NYC. After which she has been with the band ever since.
Charlie Wolfe's first musical instrument was guitar. Somehow, the guitar led him to the harmonica. Initially he was influenced by Johnathan Edwards, Jon Mayall and other greats until Brian Lavender introduced him to "Sonny Terry and Brownie McGee".

The band used a dobro (in an electric band) and created unique grooves in an electric band. "Blow your House Down" was released in 1995. 1999 saw the release of their sophomore effort "Kerry Kearney". This album led to their performing with the Allman Brothers on 2000's Nascar Rocks tour.
Relix Records signed them up. The first album of their "Psychedelta" trilogy called "Welcome to Psychedelta" was released in 2001. In 2002, Tony Campo joined and they recorded "Trippin on Psychedelta". Further, "Secrets of Psychedelta" was released in 2005. "Ships in the Forest" is another project of theirs. The band has headlined shows like "Manny's Carwash, "Chicago Blues", "Tribeca Blues" and "The Bottom Line" in NYC. Kerry Kearney Band headlined many festivals like the "Annual Riverhead Blues Festivals", "Bucks County Blues Festival" and NY's "Blues 2000 festival".
The band's energy, passion and love for jazz is well showcased in their concerts. A must-see, it is a musical journey, every music lover should undertake.
