Kingdom of Sorrow is the metal band out of New Orleans specializing in sludge. Sludge metal is a subset of metal with atonal screams of terrifying beasts and a wall of distortion and a tempo often at odds with the sound. Kingdom of Sorrow tickets are going to be available for the 2010 tour while the band promotes its latest album, Behind the Tears (2010). This group and this genre is better experienced in person at concerts than on stereo speakers at home or in the car.

Kingdom of Sorrow, also known as KoS, has the advantage of originating from the Mecca of sludge metal, New Orleans. They formed over a decade ago, though there music career is said to have begun in 2005. The group at a show in Northhampton, Massachusetts when front man Jamey Jasta met guitarist Kirk Windstein. Then Jasta was part of the band Hatebreed. The band invited Windset along for a few concerts in the United Kingdom.

Years later, the duo reconnected and found three more band mates to record an album. The debut album from Kingdom of Sorrow was self-titled and released in 2008 through Relapse Records. That album peaked at number 131 on the Billboard 200, a very respectable position for a group from such an underground genre of metal.
