George Wallace grew up in Atlanta in a very caring and religious family. Not many comedians can claim to have enjoyed such a happy childhood, but Wallace had to wait to endure his tragic impetus. His mother passed away when he was 16. His mother’s passing inspired him to move to Ohio to find work with Firestone Tire. The company had a tuition reimbursement plan and he took advantage, earning his degree in marketing and advertising from the University of Akron. From there he moved to New York to try and conquer the comedy world.
While waiting for his big break he worked as an ad salesman. Little did George Wallace know, but that job introduced him to contacts in the form of clients. One such contact opened a comedy club and the rest is history. George Wallace lived with Jerry Seinfeld in those formative comedy years before moving to the West Coast and climbing the comedy ladder quickly, even snagging a writing gig for the Red Foxx Show and becoming a regular at the famed Comedy Store.
