Even after the split, both Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina pursued successful solo careers. Loggins became a superstar with the release of a series of albums that included Celebrate Me Home (1977), Nightwatch (1978), Keep The Fire (1979), Alive (1980), Vox Humana (1985), Leap of Faith (1991), December (1998) and More Songs From Pooh Corner (2000). Artist Biography - Loggins And Messina
|
As some of the world's greatest inventions have been the outcome of accidental events, this unique duo was formed out of chance proceedings. Recognizing the talent of Kenny Loggins, a struggling songwriter and musician at that time, Jim Messina, a successful record producer, decided to produce his first album. However, he ended up contributing so much to the album that it would have been almost a fallacy to release the album as only Kenny Loggins' work. Both of them agreed to form a duo giving it the name 'Loggins and Messina'. They were so fired up with creativity and enthusiasm for making music that the following years saw them release a series of super hit albums in quick succession. Their debut venture 'Sittin' In' (1972) was a huge success. The album's music found incredible popularity and firmly strengthened the duo. Enthused by the phenomenal success of very first album, they released their self titled second album 'Loggins & Messina' which set new records of sales. This was followed by the release of highly popular 'Full Sail' (1973) and 'On Stage' (1974). By this time, the duo had touched new highs and was flooded with accolades from all directions. They issued 'Motherlode' in 1974 which received whopping response. Their next releases 'So Fine' (1975) and 'Native Sons' (1976) also proved to be great successes. People seemed to have developed a big appetite for their music. They just kept on craving for more and more. After the release of 'The Best of Friends' collection, their next album, ominously titled 'Finale' was released. This album heralded the split of the duo who had sold a staggering sixteen million albums during the brief period spanning about five years. This separation, when the duo was at the pinnacle of success, broke the hearts of millions of fans.
