Sir Thomas Beecham founded this great Orchestra in 1932 in London, England. Driven by his extreme passion for music and patriotism, Sir Thomas Beecham had always wanted to form an orchestra that would be native to London and at the same level as were the orchestras of Vienna and Berlin. His heartfelt desire was fulfilled in 1932 when the London Philharmonic orchestra (also knownby its abbreviated form LPO) gave its debut performance at the Queen's Hall, London. The concert received a whopping response and the group tasted instant success and fame. The orchestra became an autonomous group in 1939 and the members themselves begun managing the affairs of the organization. The era of Second World War saw this patriotic group perform throughout England, entertaining people even in remote areas. Since 1992, the group performs in the Royal Festival Hall in London as Resident Symphony orchestra. The group also happens to be the principal resident orchestra of the Glyndebourne Festival opera in Sussex.
