London Symphony Chorus
Famous for its divine and unique music, The London Symphony Chorus is one of the leading concert choirs of the United Kingdom. The London Symphony Chorus is often abbreviated as LSC. It was founded in 1966 to relax and refine the work of the London Symphony Orchestra. This chorus is possessing more than 200 amateur singers in its repertoire. These amateurs come to the Chorus from all walks of life. A council of nine elected representatives manages the LSC.
Though LSC is a part of LSO and have sprouted from this, It has developed an independent life at its campus polishing the choir to some more extent everyday. Its great dedication and melodious music has led LSC to partner and collaborate with many other leading orchestras. The LSC possess a precious collection of great twentieth century choral classics which include Third and Eighth Symphonies, Ravel's Daphnis et Chloé, Vaughan Williams's A Sea Symphony, Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius, Walton's Belshazzar's Feast, Mahler's Second, Britten's War Requiem and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. Because os its outstanding choir, LSC closely resembles with Berlioz' Requiem and Te Deum, Brahms's Requiem, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony,, Mozart's Requiem, Mendelssohn's Elijah and Verdi's Requiem
The London Symphony Chorus's discography of over 90 recordings includes conducted by Richard Hickox, which received the Grand Prix du Disque and the 1992 Gramophone Magazine's 'Best Music Recording' award. The recording of Bernstein's Candide, with the LSO and the composer conducting, received a Grammy award as did the recording of Peter Grimes made with the LSO and Richard Hickox in 1997. In 2006 the LSC's recording of Verdi's Falstaff, with the London Symphony Orchestra, won the Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording at the Grammy Awards of 2006.

The Chorus has more than 100 recordings in its store in today's date. These recordings include Britten's War Requiem with the LSO, done under the conduction of Richard Hickox. This recording won the Grand Prix du Disque and the Gramophone Magazine's 'Best Music Recording' award in 1992. Other recording brings the name of Britten's Peter Grimes, winning a Grammy Award and Billy Budd. LSC received two other Grammys for Berlioz Les Troyens conducted by Sir Colin Davis and the LSO in 2000. Mahler's Eighth Symphony for EMI was recorded by LSC in June 2004, supported by the CBSO and Chorus under Sir Simon Rattle. This recording has gained enormous success and highly responded by the fans. The latest associations of LSC with Sir Colin Davis and the London Symphony Orchestra on the LSO Live label proud to record another successful work "Britten's Peter Grimes", and "Verdi's Falstaff". Both of these recordings has been nominated as Best Opera Recording in the 2006 Grammys.
