Maldita Vecindad (La Maldita Vecindad y los Hijos del Quinto Patio) was formed in 1985 in Mexico City, Mexico. The present lineup of the talented band comprises gifted vocalist – Roco, brilliant guitarists El Pato and Sax, accomplished bassist Aldo, and energetic drummer Pacho. They broke on to the musical scene in 1988 with the release of their self-titled LP. The album brought the band tons of accolades and rave reviews. People fell in love with the band's fusion music, which came as a whiff of fresh air compared to the run-of-the-mill stuff of other contemporary bands. However, it was the band's second release, ‘El Circo' (1991) that swept the Mexicans (rather all Latin-American music lovers) off their feet. The album sold an astounding 600,000 copies. Apart from receiving huge popularity, the album also came to be regarded as a classic in ‘rock en Espanol' genre. To cash in on the band's tremendous popularity, they were also cast in the movie ‘Gift' around this time. Following this, band's live LP ‘Gira Pata de Perro' (1994) was released which furthered the fame of the band and added thousands of fans to their already strong fan base. The band released ‘Baile de Mascaras' in 1996, which was well received. This was followed by the release of ‘Mostros' in 1998. The band has also contributed music to the tribute albums like ‘Jose Jose' and ‘Tigres del Norte.'
