Artist Biography - Mark Eddie
|
With a guitar emitting infectious sound, a remarkable singing voice and a flamboyant spirit, the comedian/singer/songwriter Mark Eddie possess the ability to fire out musical observations, songs, guitar rifts and musical impressions. His uncanny knack of sounding and playing similar to artists such as Bob Dylan, Dave Matthews, John Mayer and Al Green to name just a few, is totally mesmerizing. From a true musicianâ€ËÅ"s point-of-view, he exhibits the similarities between heavy metal and polka music as at times like Neil Diamond he runs on a slow patch and otherwise speeds up like Creed on a turntable.
While attending college in Ohio, Mark used to perform in bar-bands. Then soon after receiving his degree, he began touring and staging performances at coffeehouses and this eventually led to his stint for national acts like Jackson Browne, Melissa Etheridge, and Toad the Wet Sprocket. Somewhere along the line of performance, Mark realized the adventure and fun he can spin out of his professional music by adding comedy to it and soon he was a rock comedian rather than a rock musician.
He's a comedian who is also a musician. Or he's a musician who is also a comedian. No, actually, he's both â€â€Å" a comic musician, for the scarcity of a proper term. Through combining the two in a creative comedy act of musical parodies, by changing lyrics of popular songs and poking fun at rock stars. The resultant effect is hilarity, which causes many to just pass out, laughing. From his high school days, Mark was always a bit of a clown, as at the end of every class, the teachers used to ask him for a performance which they heartily enjoyed.
Eddie is an incredibly talented singer, which is very much the reason; he is able to do the transitions between songs and styles with an ease that is perfect in timing. There is no artist who is safe from being the butt of his jokes; to name a few would include, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Seager, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews. Even the psychedelic kings, Pink Floyd have been rubbed in the noses and most famous 'Marijuanaville' was actually a Jimmy Buffett's song 'Margaritaville. Watching Eddie while he is singing is certainly, a â€ËÅ"hard jaw task' as he never gives one an opportunity to shut that giggling mouth for a little rest, he is a constant stock of laughter. His animated performance coupled with exaggerated facial expressions adds an emphasis onto the hilarity factor.
For his three comedy CDs, Mark has won five nominations for the coveted NACA â€ËÅ"Entertainer of the Year Award'. He is a regular performer at the comedy club circuit in Los Angles. He also tours throughout the American states, though he is a one-man band but sometimes he travels with his backup musicians. All his shows are always fully sold out and so anybody who is looking forward for his show, should book his tickets in advance.
