Matthew West is a Christian singer/songwriter from Illinois who has relocated to Nashville. Born on April 25, 1977, the singer grew up in the Chicago suburb dreaming of playing for the Cubs, but, in the end, he would become an acclaimed Christian Adult Contemporary performer selling Matthew West tickets. This path was far from easy. He spent years as an independent artist trying to survive in a town full of aspiring musicians.
His break came in 2002, when he signed with Universal South Records. The following year he released his debut major studio album, Happy.
