Meat Beat Manifesto
It's time to get your tickets to see one of the big daddies of the electronica scene, an outfit that has gone on to influence acts like Chemical Brothers and Prodigy- it's time to get your tickets to see Meat Beat Manifesto live in concert. Meat Beat Manifesto has been a huge influence on the electronica and trip hop scene, bringing styles like Big Beat and Jungle Music to the fore.
Meat Beat Manifesto was formed when Jack Dangers and Jonny Stephens, formerly of the band Perennial Divide, left the band in order to concentrate on hip hop and dub. With the help of the band XTC, the duo began experimenting in the cut and paste fashion of dub and hip hop, creating a sound that was somewhere between experimental and industrial. Their very first album was destroyed in a studio fire before it could be released and subsequent releases pigeon holed the band as a purely industrial act, due largely in part to the label they were associated with.
Meat Beat Manifesto made a huge impression with their live shows which are a huge visual feast, consisting of choreographed dance, a live DJ, costumes, video clips and live instruments. The boys toured and opened for Nine Inch Nails and would later release an album under Trent Reznor's label as well. In 1994, Dangers decided to relocate to the States and Stephens left the band. Dangers continues to run Meat Beat Manifesto as a solo and collaborative outfit.
