Michael Savage
Michael Savage jumped on the Radio bandwagon in 1994 taking a job as a fill-in person in SFO's radio channel KGO. Wanting to get serious in journalism, he applied for an appropriate degree in the University of California, but was rejected for lack of qualification. Still keeping his persistence, he found success when his talk show was syndicated nationwide by Talk Radio Network. Once he perched himself comfortably on Radio, he used it as a medium to trade barbs with his old friends. He castigated Ferlinghetti, who gave it back to Savage on the same note. However his talk show became popular amongst his fans and he rose to #1 position in Arbitron's Radio Listing for the afternoon timeslot for men and women of 18 years of age and above. He increased his air time up to five hours daily and expanded his reach to about 200 radio markets in 2003. Following a salary dispute with KSFO he switched to KNEW during July, 2003. Nothing would hamper the swelling of his popularity and as of 2005, he drew anywhere between eight to ten million listeners, weekly, making his program the third most widely broadcast in US. He admits out of gratitude that his intelligent listeners are the main reason for his success in Radio. July of 2006 brought more cheer that was intimate to his heart as he became the #1 talk show coast in New York City, his hometown and he self-proclaimed himself as "The King of New York Radio"
Michael was roped in by MSNBC despite his salvos against the channel in yesteryears, but was fired for his antigay remarks towards a caller. Michael is a successful author of New York Times bestsellers: The Savage Nation (2003), The Enemy Within (2004), Liberalism Is a Mental Disorder (2005) and The Political Zoo (2006). He is known to believe in predominance of Judeo-Christian culture in the families of America and has presented himself in the thickest of controversies involving subjects like Arabs, Islam, Homosexuality and the Republican Party. With all those distinction he continues to be the talk of the town, and the most popular talk show host in town!

Artist Biography - Michael Savage
|
Michael Savage is a popular name in American Radio and definitely carries a whiff of controversy with it, for it belongs to a conservative right wing Talk Show Radio host. Michael Savage was born as Michael Alan Weiner to Russian-Jewish parentage in the borough of the Bronx in New York City. Hailing from a middle class family, he went to Jamaica High School in NYC. Necessitated by the mediocre financial support he enjoyed, he had to keep odd jobs for survival ranging from ice cream factory worker to lifeguard and busboy etc. He graduated from Queens College in NYC and also taught high school in NYC. Later on, Savage acquired more educational credentials by completing a couple of masters in ethno botany and anthropology from University of Hawaii, not to mention the Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
He stepped on to the literary scene back in 1970 when he was Michael Weiner and advocated his liberal political views. He kept company of Beat generation poets like Allen Ginsberg, Lawrence Ferlinghetti; His friends have reported that Weiner always wanted to become a standup comic in the mould of Lenny Bruce. Quite surprisingly, he proved to be a turncoat in 1980 when he all of a sudden switched sides to the conservative side, a stance, which was diametrically opposite to the one that he held hitherto. That transformation alienated him from the North Beach scene and he suffered the loss of his erstwhile friendships.
