Miguel Mateos is a singer/songwriter from Argentina. He started his musical journey by entering the local scene. He fronted a band called Cristal with his brother Alejandro Mateos and musician Jorge Infusino. After this outfit faded he formed another band in 1979 called Zas. The group got recognition after a live performance in which they opened for British rock legends Queen. This took place in February, 1981.
Miguel then released a debut self-titled album in 1982, this was followed by "Huevos" in 1983. During this time bassist Raśl Chevalier and guitarist Eduardo Sanz joined the band. The band issued "Tengo Que Parar" in 1984. Consequently, Miguel Mateos y Zas hit the local charts with a song called "Tira Para Arriba." This was succeeded by the live recording at the Argentinian Coliseo Theater, the recording was released later as "Rockas Vivas."

Miguel Mateos then settled down in Miami during the 1990's, here he released four solo records. The band added some more talent in 1998, when keyboardist Mario Maselli and bassist Ariel Pozzo joined the band's lineup. Together they recorded, "Bar Imperio" which was released in 1999.
