Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra
MSO in 2004 had premiered in Classical Connections. This was totally a new series offering a different format with an aim to meet the changing interests of symphony patrons and the Milwaukee's cultural attendees as well.
The other series introduced by MSO is the Kinderkonzert Series. It is organised on Sunday for Families and its specialty are the exposure of the budding talents on stage. It introduces children between the age group of 3-10 to classical music. A well defined themes are proposed which are gently accepted by the children's brain and the listeners also relate them with music, multi-media guest artists, scenery, and animation. Learn and Play materials are mailed to the subscribers a month before each concert.
Education programmes
A series of education programmes are being offered by the MSO to provide lot many educational opportunities to the people. One of the major hit programme is the Arts in Community Education (ACE) programme. This particular programme aims for the development and building of creative thinking skills in children. The integration of the arts within the daily curriculum of children plays a crucial role.
ACE also uses arts techniques to emphasize lessons in academic subjects also like math, science, social studies, and language arts.
There are also concerts for youths and high school students by the MSO. These education programmes are benefiting over 40,000 children from Milwaukee, southeastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
The MSO also proves to be the launching pads for the fresh talents as it offers plenty opportunities for Milwaukee area students for developing their performance abilities.
Recordings and broadcasts
Hansel und Gretel was the first release of MSO in the year 2004. MSO recorded it on the Avie label. Thereafter, it was released internationally. The MSO had released a CD featuring Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet and Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker in 2002.
Recordings of MSO concerts are reaching 2.6 million people across the U.S. through WFMT radio network.

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra also known as MSO is one of the top 20 orchestras in US. Basically, the orchestra is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Former Tonight Show bandleader, Doc Severinsen, is the MSO's principal Pops conductor.
Out of the two symphonies present in Milwaukee, one is MSO and the other one is Festival City Symphony. The performance of the symphony at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts is awesome. The MSO remains the talk of the towns from early September to the end of the June as it presents over 150 Classics, Classical Connections, Pops, and family concerts annually for more than 200,000 people.
The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra is known for serving as the orchestra for Florentine Opera productions and also as the state orchestra through a Wisconsin Tour programme. The Orchestra has toured Cuba, Japan, Europe and the Dominican Republic and made 13 appearances at Carnegie Hall.
The MSO has a huge work records in its credit including over 100 world and American premieres by renowned. The list of these include Philip Glass, Daron Hagen, Daniel Schnyder, Roberto Sierra, Gunther Schuller, William Schuman, Lukas Foss, Roy Harris, Gian Carlo Menotti, Richard Rodgers, Ottorino Respighi, Jean Sibelius, Erich Korngold and many others. MSO musicians have composed over 22 compositions.
Andreas Delfs has been the MSO music director since 1997. He is going to put in his papers in 2009 and will take the post of MSO's Conductor Laureate.
