Curling Tickets Curling began as a game played on frozen lakes in Scotland during the Middle Ages. Now, Curling tickets are selling for the competition at the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver. The sport has four players on two teams, playing what appears to be a version of shuffle board set on ice. The teams have two sweepers that literary sweep the ice to help guide the polished stone along a path to a preconceived position in the house, or giant bullseye on the other side of the court. The game is not the most athletic of the Winter Olympics, attracting some ire when it was adopted by the Olympics as a competitive game in 1998 (even though it had a brief appearance as an event in 1924). The game is not simply a game of luck though. There is real strategy to Curling and that is what makes it so popular. The game has a player throwing (or simply sliding and releasing) the stone from one to the other. The two sweepers get to work and sweep a path with direction from the person who threw the stone and the person at the other end "receiving" the stone (these positions are reversed in the next round of throws). Each side has four rocks to throw on a turn, with the first two throws being allowed to be delivered to any place on the ice without being bumped off. This creates the need for strategy. The last two throws can knock the opposition's rocks on the course.
