Ice Hockey Tickets Ice Hockey is perhaps the most popular team sport of the winter. No other sport moves so fast with so much unexpected action. Group A will have Norway, Canada, Switzerland, and the United States. Group B will have Russia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Latvia. Group C will have Germany, Sweden, Finland, and Belarus. The teams were chosen from the World Rankings after the 2008 Men's World Ice Hockey Championships (the first nine earned bids) and a tournament that left the final three spots to be determined by a tournament of the 10th through 30th ranked teams. The teams will play a round robin within their group. The teams will be ranked 1 through 12 and the first four teams will receive a first round bye. The last eight teams will compete in the first round, with the four winners advancing a single elimination tournament.

 The Winter Games women's teams were chosen were picked by taking the top six teams in the IIHF Women's World Ranking following the 2008 Women's World Ice Hockey Championships. A tournament for the teams ranked 7th through 12th is held to determine the final two spots. The Women's Ice Hockey format has eight teams divided into two groups. Group A has Canada, Sweden, Switzerland, and Slovakia and Group B has the United States, Finland, Russia, and China. After a round robin, the top two teams from each group will advance to a single elimination medal tournament. The four teams that do not make the medal tournament will play in a classification tournament.
