Short Track Speed Skating is a particular version of speed skating that takes the traditional sport and uses a shorter track. The is only 111.12 m in circumference as compared to 400 m. The 2010 Winter Games will have Short Track tickets at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver.

The sport began to evolve almost as soon as the Winter Olympics adopted the sport of speed skating. The sport of speed skating began to become more and more popular there were competitions held around North America. These competitions were held indoors where it was not possible to have a 400 m rink. Instead the competitions were held on ice hockey rinks, thus the 111.12 m.

Short Track Speed Skating became a demonstration sport in 1988 at the Winter Games in Calgary. The sport became apart of the Winter Olympics officially as a medal sport in 1992.
