Drew's contract. Basically, it is unlikely Boston will be bringing in an established slugger like Carlos Beltran or Alfonso Soriano as a hired gun for the 2011 season.

Boston does have one major concern, its pitching. The Red Sox pitching staff has a very good ranking for WHIP (6th) and Opponents Batting Average (5th), but the team is in the middle of the pack for ERA (15th) and near the bottom of the league for quality starts (26th).

Red Sox tickets are definitely a good buy when Josh Beckett and Jon Lester take the mound to start games, as the two have a combined 25 quality starts in 36 games. However, things get dicey once Clay Buchholz, Tim Wakefield, and John Lackey are warming up in the pregame. Boston has a solid middle relief with a closer who has been throwing much better in Jonathan Papelbon.

The 2011 second half of the Boston Red Sox schedule should be one of the more exciting, but the fans would prefer a little less excitement toward the end of the rotation, with more wins coming from dominant pitching performances and far fewer coming from the army of batsmen.
