The rise of Hosmer means Billy Butler will move to DH full time. Butler hit 19 homeruns and had a .291 average in addition to posting a .361 OBP in 159 games. This means Butler's paltry offensive numbers are no longer a worry. Gordon moved to left from third after failing to emerge as the George Brett of the 21st century. Instead, he found a comfort zone in the anonymity of left field. He hit 23 homeruns and posted a .303 batting average and a .376 OBP. Moustakas is the exciting addition to the lineup. The third baseman only hit 5 homerun and posted a .263 batting average and .309 OBP. He is an ever improving hitter with the potential to be a .300-30 man. Jonathan Sanchez is the latest addition to the Royals starting rotation. Sanchez is coming of age as a pitcher. If he is to make the jump to something more than a middle of the rotation kind of guy, he needs to repeat his 2010 performance in 2012. He will be pre-emptively given the ace role ahead of Bruce Chen, Luke Hochevar, Danny Duffy, and Felipe Paulino. None of these starters is going to give him much competition or is likely to be around in three years when the armament of the Royals farm system has finally shown some kind of maturity. Those teams were led by a young George Brett, a Hall of Fame third baseman who would go on to accumulate over 3,000 hits and 300 home runs and finish his career with a batting average over .300.
