While Matt Kemp's chances of winning the NL MVP only improved with the departure of Prince Fielder and Albert Pujols, Manager Don Mattingly is going to have to construct some kind of batting order to avoid another finish in the bottom tier of run production in the MLB. The most compelling cases to enhance the order are first baseman James Loney, right fielder Andre Ethier, and shortstop Dee Gordon. Loney lacks the power expected at the first base position, but he has been a decent hitter with a good OBP in the past. Ethier struggled last season, but should return to his former condition, hitting 20 or more homeruns while posting a batting average around .300 with an OBP around .370. Gordon is young and could be a .300 hitter and steal 50 bags in a full season. The Dodgers 2012 season is going to begin as a struggle, but ultimately the Los Angeles baseball fans could be cheering on a playoff team come the fall.
