Mr.Cheeks released his first solo debut album, John P Kelly. This album was named after his late grandfather and his cousin who succumbed to stomach cancer as his tribute and testimony. And such tough times were not uncommon as he had already witnessed his friend and band member Freaky Tah's death in 1999.Inspite of been deeply affected by his death, Mr. Cheeks and the band members Pretty Lou and Spiggy Nice were committed to the recording of their album LB 4 Life (1999).This actually became their tribute to Freaky Tah who had appeared in many of the song recordings before he died.
His solo album, John .P Kelly was actually released following a fall out with the band "The lost boyz".This album was in collaboration with his long time friend and business partner, Stephen Marley, son of well known reggae artist -Bob Marley. This album featured the ballad" Till we meet again" in memory of Freaky Tah along with the reggae song "Mama say". In the year 2003, the follow up album titled- Back again was released. Finally in the fall of 2003, Mr.Cheeks separated himself from Universal records and formed his own label Diane's Boyz.
On June 8th 2004, Mr. Cheeks released his third solo titled "Ladies and Ghettomen". He also created a record label titled One Fam music along with Stephen Marley. Mr. Cheeks also featured in Lil Kim's single titled, "The Jump off". He was scheduled to have another CD released in April, 2006 with his free offering of the first single on the website. Unfortunately it never took off and wasn't released and his website was taken down shortly after this.

Terence Kelly was born on 28th March, 1971 in the Jamaican neighbourhood situated in the borough of Queens in New York city. It is known to be a predominant settlement of African American neighbourhood in the borough of Queens. Terence Kelly came to be known as Mr. Cheeks during his musical career as a popular rapper. Mr. Cheeks was known as a solo artist and for his work with the musical group, The Lost Boyz. Thus the Lost Boyz was made up of Mr. Cheeks along with band mates Freaky Tah (1972-1999), Spigg Nice and Pretty Lou.
This musical group had a very non sensational style of hip-hop music with influences from New York. They produced a no. of hit singles which includes, "Lifestyles of the Rich and Shameless" (1994), "Jeeps, Lex Coups, Bimaz & Benz" (1995) and "Renee" (1996).The albums," Legal Drug Money" in 1996, "Love, Peace & Happiness" in 1997, and "LB 4 Life" in 1999 brought them a lot of critical acclaim worldwide. In March 1999, one of the members of the Lost Boyz, Freaky Tah was murdered while he was leaving Mr. Cheeks birthday party. After this incident, Mr.Cheeks appeared once again but as a solo artist this time.
