Mr. Show was a sketch comedy series featuring writer and comedy actor, Bob Odenkirk along with stand up comedian- David Cross. It was aired on HBO from November 1995 to December 1998. The edited version can be seen currently on Comedy central and TBS.The format of this show has influences from the British sketch comedy show, Monty Python's flying circus. The common thing seen in both these shows was the linking of one skit to the other. Each episode of Mr. Show was linked to the other with the characters progressing with each episode. Thus a minor character in one episode appeared as the major character in the next.
Though this show was completely absurd and very unpredictable at times still it gained good popularity among comedy aficionados. It was regarded as the best sketch comedy show of the era. This show had references to cynicism and satire and conveyed a strong and a contrarian viewpoint. It had satirical tomes towards organized religion, capitalism and towards America.
