Artist Biography - Murderdolls
|
The band, Murderdolls, which was formed in Hollywood, California, is a hybrid of the Murder Junkies and the New York Dolls. Jordison was the first suggested to suggest such this bizarre name. But band members thought that this name has an appeal so they decided to carry with it. And over the years this name has become quite amongst rock music fans.
Murderdolls' members are Wednesday 13 (vocals), Joey Jordison and Acey Slade forplys guitaracking vocals, Eric Griffin (bass, backing vocals) and Ben Graves who plays the drum. The group has limited success in the United States, but they have a huge fan following in places like United Kingdom and even Japan.
The band's music is influenced by different sounds like the punk rock and glam metal, and also 1970s hard rock. The band members share a variety of interests. It is also believed that horror movies help band member to improve their work.
The lyrics of the group are in ‘tongue-in-cheek' way and covers topics of necrophilia, grave robbing, cross-dressing, among other a standard practice for horror punk bands.
If critics and fans are to be believed then the band is also often described as ‘Mötley Crüe meets the Misfits' alike as the bassist.
Jordison met Tripp Eisen in the 1999, Ozzfest tour, and asked him if whether he was interested in the project for reformation of the Rejects with Draztik. Eisen agreed to this project and one of his friends Dope and Racci Shay also joined them in playing drums with them. Ian the bassist too played in New York based band the Vampire Love Dolls with them live. Eisen and the Drag Queens frontman invited Wednesday 13 and he joined them in 2001 as a bassist.
Soon, Draztik was removed out of the project and Wednesday 13 was given the front-man position. Now the band changed their name to the Murderdolls, which Jordison suggested and soon adopted a horror theme to it. Wednesday 13 had become the driving force for the band by this time as majorities of the tracks on the Murderdolls debut album were from his previous band Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13.
In March 2002, Ben Graves and Eric Griffin from Boston, Massachusetts joined the Murderdolls. They only featured on the debut album artwork, but did not really play on the album. The band's first performance as the Murderdolls was shown on July 30 2002 at San Diego's Epicenter club.
The EP released in 2002, Right to Remain Violent featured some tracks from their coming album. This album was soon followed by Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls .
After the release of the Murderdolls album it was promoted to the public as a collaboration" between Jordison and Tripp Eisen. At this time 13's was not much known by the public but lately fans discovered the history. After only playing two live shows with the Murderdolls, Eisen returned to his main band Static-X as they were due to record a new album at the time. A friend of Eisen's Acey Slade was brought in to replace him on guitar.
