National Acrobats Of Taiwan
The masters of the Fu Hsing Academy have preserved the systematic teaching methods of ancient China to cultivate performers of folk dramatic arts, in order to preserve this traditional art form, and to pass it on to the next generation, who are now growing up in a rapidly changing society. The masters of the Academy, graduates themselves, have performed in Europe, America and South East Asia to promote this Chinese art-form around the world. In 1957, Mr Zhenzu Wang founded The National Fu Hsing Dramatic Arts Academy as a private school. With the aim to train actors and actresses for the traditional Performing Arts.
Lo Jih-Hung(also known by his Western name 'Dante Law'), troupe leader and artistic director started performing as a magician throughout Southeast Asia in the early 1970s. He is popular in Taiwan and overseas as a magician. Now, he also serves as a Commission Member of the Taipei Craft and Dancing Art Guild. His contribution to the arts has led him to receive much adulation. He has received the Public Welfare Award in Taipei (1991), Outstanding Performance Award from the Taiwan Provincial Government (1996), and the Mayor's Award (1998). In 1995, he was named outstanding performing celebrity in mainland China in 1995.
The National Acrobats troupe toured North America as part of their 70-city tour. All performances - Vancouver, Seattle, Sacramento, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit, Boston, New York, Phoenix, Chicago, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh and Washington, DC â€â€Å" were received well by the enthralled audience. Their skill has take them beyond Taiwan and the outlying islands. Not only performing centers but various governments have invited them. They spread traditional Chinese culture, establish cultural exchanges and promote folk arts.
Spectators are in awe of their flexibility, grace and perfect movements. Tickets are purchased by most people as it is a performance that captivates and entertains people from all walks of life for centuries.

The National Acrobats of Taiwan are part of a Chinese tradition that has been practiced since 700 B.C. Buy tickets to watch these Highly skilled, superbly talented and rigorously trained acrobats. It is an art form where household tools and other objects of daily life like chairs, tables, poles, ladders, bowls, plates, bottles, and jars as props. The tradition originates from Chinese annual village harvest celebrations. The staff at the Fu Hsing Academy preserved the ancient Chinese systematic training methods to pass it on to the next generation who may further teach more youngsters. The idea is to ensure this cultural treasure does not perish to cultivate performers of folk dramatic arts.
The acrobats perform gravity-defying balancing acts, acrobatics, spine-bending contortions and stunts such as chair stacking, plate spinning and foot juggling. All in all, the troupe showcases fabulous choreography, powerful music in sync with the stunts in a backdrop of enchanting scenery topped with amazing lighting. The acrobats aim to make traditional Chinese acrobatics versatile in order to bring forth an era of art at home and overseas. The performers and masters both aim want to continue traditional acrobatics for posterity.
