He will return to the starting lineup soon in the postseason. It will be up to Conley and shooting guard Tony Allen to force the opposition to grind it out in the backcourt. The backcourt scoring comes with the second unit when O.J. Mayo steps on the court. Mayo provides 12.6 points but he is shooting a questionable 40.8 percent from the floor and 36.4 percent from three. The Memphis Grizzlies need all these parts to come together to advance in the playoffs. That opponent will be the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers had home court advantage before losing it by the end of the regular season schedule. Instead Memphis has the home court advantage at the FedEx Forum. The Grizzlies will need the perimeter game to be on fire for the basketball team to advance to the second round.

 The Memphis Grizzlies began playing professional basketball in the 1995-96 NBA season as the Vancouver Grizzlies. Those early teams had it rough, consistently finishing among the worst in the league. The franchise had counted on Shareef Abdur-Rahim to become the team leader. Abdur-Rahim was a versatile power forward who could post up, shoot from deep, and rebound. However, his individual game proved not to be enough to take the Grizzlies to the playoffs. Eventually the flailing franchise wore on the fans patience and attendance figures dropped. The team changed owners and moved to Memphis in 2001. Pau Gasol became the new hope for the basketball team and Jerry West took over as the executive, adding Mike Miller, Shane Battier, and James Posey to the roster. Suddenly, the Grizzlies had a playoff worthy roster and, under the direction of Coach Hubie Brown, Memphis posted three consecutive winning records. Three straight playoff appearances ended in three straight first round sweeps. The Memphis Grizzlies began to dismantle the roster, officially starting over with the controversial trade that sent Pau Gasol to the Lakers for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie, two first round draft picks, and Marc Gasol. Marc Gasol proved to be the unlikely bright spot of the bunch. Marc began as a backup center, but developed into a tough defender with post moves and a knack for grabbing rebounds. Rudy Gay blossomed into a dangerous scorer and soon the team added Zach Randolph to the mix. The Randolph acquisition came with heavy criticism due to the player's troubled relationship with the law and his team's constant struggle.
