His assist numbers are not very impressive, but Oklahoma City's team is built around utilizing just three scorers and surrounding these players with defensive role players, some with three point range. James Harden, the next generation of great sixth men, is the third scorer in Oklahoma City. The Thunder fans know him well, as the man scoring 17 points off the bench along with grabbing five rebounds and taking two steals a game. The guard is just what the team needs to complete the rotation. On the defensive side, center Kendrick Perkins, power forward Serge Ibaka, and shooting guard Thabo Sefolosha are the starting defensive guys. They are kind of like the checking line on a hockey team. Perkins is going to be challenging Duncan, Ibaka is going to have to demonstrate he has the ability to cover on the perimeter, and Sefolosha is going to be responsible for harassing Parker (What? You thought Westbrook was going to have to stop the only threat with the basketball in his hands.

 The Oklahoma City Thunder are a basketball team whose fate changed in 2008 when the then-owner and the city entered a showdown over a new arena. The city would not back down and the Seattle Supersonics left for the Oklahoma City, a city that had played foster parent to the Hornets. Sometimes called the Zombie Sonics, a term coined by Bill Simmons, this team entered a new city to play at the New Orleans Arena with a developing superstar, Kevin Durant. Durant soon was joined by Russell Westbrook, a questionable point guard. He had been a standout combo guard at UCLA and came to the NBA without a complete skillset. Westbrook ended up thriving in the position, quickly going from 5.3 assists to 8.0 assists in just one season. General Manager Sam Presti continued to build a roster composed of youth and not veterans. James Harden became the potential shooting guard of the future, though he appears to be destined to be a great sixth man. By the 2009-10 season the franchise had posted 50 wins and became the heir to the Western Conference throne. The 2010-2011 postseason proved another pivotal step. The Thunder beat the Nuggets in five games, outlasted the Spurs in seven games, and met the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals.
