Portland Trail Blazers Tickets The Portland Trail Blazers tickets for the 2012 basketball season at the Rose Garden are available to enjoy a familiar roster, one without Brandon Roy and Greg Oden. This time Roy is gone via retirement and Oden I back on the IR. The schedule is going to be much of the same, so it is conceivable that the Trailblazers could end up in the NBA playoffs again. The frontcourt, as it stands without Oden, features Marcus Camby at center, LaMarcus Aldridge at power forward, and Gerald Wallace at small forward. The backcourt will have Jamal Crawford at shooting guard and Raymond Felton at point guard. The bench will be in good shape with Wesley Matthews at guard, Craig Smith at power forward, and Nicolas Batum at small forward. The biggest change is not Crawford's entrance into the starting lineup, but Felton's. Felton played very well in New York under D'Antoni and survived in a backup role in Denver. Portland is his opportunity to be featured as a starter once again. Felton gives Head Coach Nate McMillan the opportunity to run in 2012. Owner Paul Allen must believe he has a chance to compete. At least that is the message after signing Kurt Thomas, the hired gun of big men in the 21st century. Portland already has its star in Aldridge. He supplanted Roy in that role last season and the Trail Blazers are happy that he return as the 20 point scorer and 50 percent shooter that he has become. He can score inside and out and rebound with the best of them. Also, Wallace has had a half a season to adjust to his role. Wallace is a superb combo forward with the quickness and spindly strength. He is not a great shooter, but he is a good passer and great rebounder. Wallace is also an excellent defender, able to guard the three and moving quickly in the lanes.

Portland Trail Blazers History

 The Portland Trail Blazers started playing all the way back in 1970. That is not that long ago in reality, but they have had an incredible amount of success as an NBA team in that time. They won the NBA Championship in 1977 and have won three Western Conference Finals. These are far from numbers of such great number that they bowl fans over. However, the Trail Blazers fans have only had to endure a few brief flirtations with futility. The Trailblazers struggled at the beginning of his career and during the team's time as the Jail Blazers. Portland won it all back in 1977. They enjoyed the effort of Maurice Lucas from the dispersal draft and a healthy Bill Walton. It turns out Walton was truly a superstar when his feet and knees were not shortening his season. A great passer, defender, and scorer, he earned the Finals MVP. Despite losing in the playoffs the next season, Walton won the MVP. He also demanded a trade. The team remained competitive but they soon found a new star in Clyde "The Glide" Drexler. Drexler, Buck Williams, Terry Porter, Cliff Robertson, Kevin Duckworth and Jerome Kersey took the Portland Trail Blazers to the NBA Finals in 1990 and 1992. Portland failed to overtake Detroit and Chicago in their dynasty runs. The basketball team moved onto a new stage, building a squad around Damon Stoudamire, Kenny Anderson, Jim Jackson, and Steve Smith ushered in a new era. This squad did not work, and the addition of Arvydus Sabonis and Scottie Pippen on the court and Mike Dunleavy as head coach led to another postseason run. Eventually, Portland fell into the Jail Blazer era, but only briefly. New team president Steve Patterson drafted Brandon Roy and the team began its rebuilding process. LaMarcus Aldridge was supposed to be a nice complimentary piece to the puzzle, but he ended up becoming the star as Roy's degenerative knees forced him to retire.
