Nextfest
NextFest features a lot of pavilions that showcase the future of different fields like communication, design, entertainment, exploration, green health, play, robotics, security and transportation. Some of the new inventions featured this year include Tactical Iraqi Language and Culture Training system, Dandelion, Brainball (a game played between two players through brainwave-detecting headbands), Laptop Orchestra (an entire audio/video i.e. an interactive synesthetic instrument), Heptic Karate Trainer, CRew exploration vehicle (described as 'the Mini Cooper of Space Exploration') , Bio Suit, Deep Worker (appropriate for going 2,000 feet below for a duration of 80 hours). Environment Pavilion received funding for research from the State of New York. On display are Architectural WInd (6.5 foot tall wind turbines that produce 55 kWh a month per unit), Flower Lamp(whose petal bloom only if energy consumption in the house is low) and Power-Aware Cord(emanates a blue light when too much energy is used). The future of health include Veinviewer (makes easy inserting IVs), Paro (a robot to accompany the elderly), Dynamic Arm Elbow (a prosthetic) and Lifestraw (purifies water).
Lectures by Interesting speakers like Andrew Stanton, Academy award winning writer of Toy Story, A Bug's Life, and Finding Nemo. If sight-seeing and culture is more your thing then go to one of these famous LA spots: Ports O'Call Village, Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific; Cabrillo Marine Aquarium; African Heritage Festival; Aquarium of the Pacific; Fort Macarthur Military Museum or just while away time at the Promenade, Harbor Breeze Cruises or Chipotle Mexican Grill.

NextFest is a four-day long festival showcasing the latest in hi-tech inventions and cool new gadgets. Teachers can bring their students for free, parents buy tickets for your kids and etc. The variety of inventions include Mars suits, a virtual climbing wall, vein viewers, robots, personal flying vehicles and other visionary prototypes, designs and interactive experiences. NextFest will be held at Los Angeles Convention Center which is located at 1201 South Figueroa Street in Los Angeles, CA.
In the past, many cool inventions showcased at Wired NextFest included Brain Fingerprinting, FogScreen, Optical Camouflage suit, Human Emulation Robots, Cars of the Future, Facial Pattern Recognition scanner, Kiddie robots, Power-assisted exo-skeletons, Jack-In-The-Beanstalk super-growth plants, NASA rovers, remote-controlled cell phone camera/transmitters among many other wacky, exciting thingamajigs.
