Denver Broncos 2012 Playoffs

The Denver Broncos enter the Divisional Playoff round at 9-8, the winner of the AFC West. This unimpressive record landed Tim Tebow and company a date with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Wild Card round. Tebow did not put on a show the entire season, but made enough big plays to deliver a 29-23 overtime win. This week Denver Broncos playoff tickets are being sold for a rematch with the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on January 14, 2012.
The first time these two teams met, the Broncos were on a six-game winning streak and Tebow was approaching near-Jebus status. That game alone derailed Denver’s spirit, though not their postseason dreams. The attrition in the AFC West gave them a postseason date despite a three-game losing streak. Once again the pundits began doubting Tebow’s football team. Well, Tebow launched one 30-yard bomb to Eddie Royal and Demaryius Thomas turned a simple crossing pattern into an 80-yard score. The Steelers went down in overtime.
In order for the Denver Broncos to continue this inspiring run, the defense will have to overachieve defending the pass. Similarly, Tebow will need to overachieve, perhaps not completing a greater percentage of passes but making the big plays. This playoff game will put that ability to the test.
Denver Broncos History
Denver Broncos Background
The Denver Broncos struggled from 1960 to 1976, failing to reach the postseason. However, the franchise’s first playoff appearance proved quite amazing. The Broncos had Craig Morton at quarterback and he won the Comeback Player of the Year. The team went to the Super Bowl XII, losing to the Dallas Cowboys 27-10. The team continued to post double-digits wins and went to the postseason two more consecutive seasons.
Then, enter John Elway. Previous to him the Broncos had always struggled to find a suitable quarterback who could last more than a few seasons as a starter. Elway spent the 1980s as the gunslinger trying to prove he belonged mentioned among the elite at his position. He played in three Super Bowls in that decade, playing in Super Bowl XXI, XXII and XXIV, losing badly each time. The Giants beat them 39-20 in 1987, the Redskins beat them 42-10 in 1988, and the 49ers drubbed them 55-10 in 1990. His day and the Denver Broncos day would come in the latter end of the 1990s.
Elway was the big name, but Terrell Davis was the talent as the Broncos beat the Packers 31-24 in Super Bowl XXXII and the Falcons 34-19 in Super Bowl XXXIII. That Falcons game would be his last as a player, but not his last as part of the Broncos organization. Denver returned to the postseason with Jake Plummer as the starting quarterback, but they knew he was not the answer. Now they have Tim Tebow and OnlineSeast has the Denver Broncos playoff tickets for cheap.
