San Francisco 49ers 2012 Playoffs

Every Niners fan in the Bay area will be in search of San Francisco 49ers playoff tickets for the January 22, 2012 NFC Championship game at Candlestick Park. Jim Harbaugh’s inspired football team will be playing the New York Giants - a wild card team playing like it earned a first round bye. The 49ers did earn a first round bye and they did win quite an impressive bout with the Saints. Alex Smith played toe to toe with Drew Brees and proved that perhaps he could be more than just a game manager.
The San Francisco 49ers are heading into the football game a team with a reputation for great defense and backed up with the best running defense in the NFL, a very good pass defense, the second best scoring defense during the regular season, and a terrifying ball hawking tendency. However, there are lingering doubts in this pass-first league. Running back Frank Gore may be the leader of one of the best running games in the league, but fans would feel better if Smith consistently put on the show he did last week.
Last week Michael Crabtree was a non-factor and Gore and tight end Vernon Davis carries the load. The 49ers would love to see Davis burn defenses for 180 yards and two touchdowns again. The Giants defensive line is healthier and a much better overall unit than the Saints. This means Smith is going to have less time to let the play develop. Still, people forget that one Eli Manning once arrived in the playoffs with as much doubt hanging over his head and propelled himself into the next level. Smith has had seven seasons to prove himself, but has worked under seven different offensive coordinator. San Francisco appears to have much more stability and maybe Smith is finally able to shine.
San Francisco 49ers Playoff History
San Francisco 49ers Background
If you are a San Francisco 49ers fan, then you most likely have forgotten about the first three decades of the franchise’s history. You would be warranted to do so because the 49ers finally became relevant when quarterback Joe Montana took the field and mastered Bill Walsh’s West Coast Offense. Previous to Montana, the 49ers advanced to the playoffs just five times. Montana took the 49ers to the playoffs five times in six years.
The San Francisco 49ers also won its first two Super Bowls in that time. Overall, Joe Montana would win four Super Bowls and three Super Bowl MVPs. He, Jerry Rice, and Roger Craig were a part of a dynasty. Quarterback Steve Young then took over and continued the good times. He would win two NFL MVPs and one Super Bowl.
Post-Steve Young, the San Francisco 49ers tickets have managed to return with Jeff Garcia, but had struggled in the years the front office tried to hand over the keys to the offense to Alex Smith. He has them now and it appears as the manager there will be playoff tickets to be had by the postseasons starved fans.
