Coach John Madden, gun-slinging quarterback Ken Stabler, and a dominant defense defined this team. Two seasons later the Raiders moved to Los Angeles, starring running back Marcus Allen. Later Allen and Bo Jackson starred in the same backfield, but were unable to win another Super Bowl. The football team moved back to Oakland in 1995. The team hoped to bring back a team as ferocious as the Raiders team that left in the beginning of the 1980s. Rich Gannon became the face of the offense, reminding fans of the gunslinger Stabler. The Raiders won the AFC West three consecutive seasons from 2000 to 2002, ending the run with a 48-21 loss in the Super Bowl to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Since the loss, Oakland has struggled to maintain the coaching staff, much less develop a football team capable of winning the wild AFC West.
