The Pittsburgh Steelers won five AFC Central division titles from 1992 to 1997, but failed to win a Super Bowl. That Super Bowl came in 2005, when the Pittsburgh Steelers finally found their franchise quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger. Running back Jerome Bettis retired after the season, finally having his Super Bowl ring. The Steelers won 21-10 over the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL. Roethlisberger forged a bond with receivers Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes and Rashard Mendenhall developed into an everyday back, which allowed the Steelers to return to the big game in 2008. The Steelers won 27-23 in Super Bowl XLIII. This championship came under the leadership of new head coach Mike Tomlin.
