Calling the offensive attack mediocre is a generous statement. The Blue Jackets are averaging a pathetic 2.5 goals a game. Rick Nash is perhaps the only recognizable offensive talent on the roster. He has over 27 goals and 27 assist right now, giving him 54 points. Jakub Voracek deserves some recognition though. He has dished out the most assists on the team. Columbus needs to find some sort of catalyst to spark this offense if they want to advance to the playoffs. While the offense is scoring just over 2.5 goals a game, the Blue Jackets defense is surrendering 3 goals a game. It is difficult to continue to hover around .500 or dream of posting a winning record for the postseason when there is a negative sign in front of the scoring differential. Columbus has to hope goalie Steve Mason begins some sort improbable streak at the net. If the Columbus Blue Jackets can improve both aspects of their game, they are more than capable of securing a seed into the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs, especially with so many team struggling in the Western Conference. Fans are restless and ready to get back to Nationwide Arena to cheer the Blue Jackets into the playoffs. Make sure you are there to do the same!
