Nina Simone, with a birth name of Eunice Cathleen Waymon was also known as High Priestess of Soul sometimes.
A highly talented woman, she had three talents at one time. She was a singer, song writer and pianist. She was also a civil right activist. She was born on February 23, 1933 and she died on April 21, 2003 in Carry-le-Rouet, Bouches-du-Rhone, France. She has been an active singer for lot many genre including Jazz, Soul, Folk, R&B, Gospel. She marked her active presence on the musical arena from the year 1951 to 2003. Her music was released under various labels including RCA Victor, Philips, Bethlehem, Colpix, Legacy Recordings
Besides, Nina Simone was an American singer, songwriter, pianist, and civil rights activist. Simone was sometimes classified as a jazz musician, however, she did not like this categorisation. Her work was a blend of variety of musical styles, including jazz, soul, folk, R&B, gospel, and even pop music.
Her vocal style incorporated passion, breathiness, and tremolo. Simone recorded over 40 albums including live and studio. Her debut album was released in 1958 with Little Girl Blue. Her hit songs include My Baby Just Cares for Me, I Put A Spell On You, I Loves You Porgy, Feeling Good, Sinnerman and Ain't got no-I got life.

Nina was born with mission, a mission to sing and fight for the cause.
Born as Eunice Kathleen Waymon in Tryon, North Carolina, as one of eight children, She started playing piano at her local church. She displayed prodigious talent on this instrument. She made her concert debut as a piano recital, at the age of ten.
At this particular show, her parents were forced to sit at the back row when they were seating at front row so that the whites could be allowed to sit in front.. Bravo Simone did not play the music until her parents were moved back. Later on, this incident contributed to her involvement in civil rights movement.
Performing live Her stage presence made her earn the title the "High Priestess of Soul". Her live performances were known not as concerts, but as happenings as she was a singer, pianist, dancer, actress and activist all simultaneously in one concert.
