Nomeansno
Established in 1979 by the Wright brothers - Rob Wright and John Wright, Nomeansno's first few years' musical creations would seem to be influenced as much by jazz and progressive rock as punk rock. In the early 1980s, the band started gigging with bass, drums and vocals. In 1984, Andy Kerr joined the band as a guitarist and vocalist. He preferred to deal with pseudonymity and used lots of pseudonyms like 'Buttercup' or 'None-Of-Your-Fucking-Business' in his songs. In this way, he introduced the hardcore punk style in the band. Kerr was regarded as an important figure in the band during the 1980s, because Rob Wright was retrieving songs from nodules on his vocal cords. 'Sex Mad' was released by 'Nomeansno' in 1986. It became super hit. After that, the band released 'Small Parts Isolated And Destroyed' and 'The Day Everything Became Nothing' in 1988. These songs turned out so popular that the band acquired the leading place. The entire rock world was shaken tremendously by the band's stormy songs. 'Wrong' was released in 1989 and 'The Power of Positive Thinking' was released in 1990. In the same year, 'Nomeansno' performed its live show on 'Bootleg cassette' in Warsaw. Again in 1991, 'Live and Cuddly' was performed by the band as a live show in Warsaw. Kerr worked with this band till 1991.
After Kerr left the band, Wright brothers recorded 'Why Do They Call Me Mr. Happy?'. In 1994, Tom Holliston joined the band as a guitarist. After that, Nomeansno's chariot of success moved with great pace. 'Worldhood of the World' was released in 1995. 'Dance of the Headless Bourgeoisie' was released in 1998. 'One' came to the market in 2000. 'Generic Shame' stirred the heart of the rock lovers in 2001. All of them were super hit.
At the beginning, 'Nomeansno' had an accord with 'Alternative Tentacles', a seminal punk rock recording company. The band broke the relationship with the company in 2002 for a personal reason. Starting from then, all recordings of 'Nomeansno' are still covered by the 'Southern Records'. The band released 'All Roads Lead To Ausfahrt' on 22nd August, 2006. In United States, it was recorded by 'Antacid Audio' and 'Southern records' did the same in European countries.
The band has never made an attempt to achieve the mainstream success, but magically it holds a strong underground flow in the countries of North America and Europe. It has often conducted tours to those countries for performing rock shows. Hope you have become interested to listen the concert of 'Nomeansno'. Then, do not waste more time.
