David Strackany, is the songwriter and chief (only) musician of the band. He stays in Brooklyn,New York. The most distinguishable feat for this musician is that finally he has completed his project, "The Song Diary" which he started off last year on Easter Day (April,2006) and finished the project by recording 365- songs on the Tax Day (April,2007). This achievement has brought him into the limelight and has caught the attention of many news sources of repute like USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, Magnet Magazine, Paste Magazine, The Chicago Sun Times, The New York Post, NPR Morning Edition, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, and a number of regional daily and weekly papers across the United States.
Before, 'The Song Diary,' Strackany has recorded an album titled, "Misery, Missouri". It was recorded in the early October 2004. The album had a similar folk tinge, like the 'Song Diary', but it displays more elaborate arrangements and instrumentation. The first track ‘Houdini' emits a soft acoustic musing but its ‘Ophelia, asleep in the flower pot' that really introduces Strackany's voice and signature instrumental tones. It's especially the delicate instrumental that sets the pace of the song. There are some softer songs like ‘Beautiful Lady, Beautiful Girl' which has brushed drums beat and the same beat is used in ‘What is Love' and ‘Sky Pilot', but here they set the pace of the songs moving. Moreover, the climax can really leave you breathless. The complete recording session was done with just one microphone and around 1000 copies were released independently. Of course, they are now out of stock, and there are no plans to re-release the work.
Paleo regards himself as a workaholic, when it comes to music. In High School, he nearly failed every class, as the classes were spent sleeping while he practised his music in the basement of the house at night. Before he made his full- swing into music he was mapping roads for DOT and the spare times went into producing for a DC band 'These United States'. He did his college from the University of Iowa and decided to stay for a year even after his graduation. He has also made soundtracks for a friend's short movie. However, it was the inspiration from a girl called Dottie Alexander, who was the Keyboardist for the band 'Of Montreal', who encouraged him to go full-time into his music. Thus it led this sage of pure music in for his saga, and thus began the recordings. His lo-fi songs have been recorded in out-of-world places like a toilet, in an attic or on a beach with an open sky full of stars. His songs had to be lo-fi, as most of the time the recordings were done at five in the morning with just one microphone and the everyday tour kept him busy and tired, so he could barely speak.
Paleo has decided on touring for some time and so the humble musician whose only delight is his music, is going to be in town brandishing his children's guitar. So just for the pure delight of listening to a musician who sees life as it comes to him, be there. When you really want something, you are really going to go for the moment it passes your way. So the tickets are waiting, just hurry.
