Pete Yorn
New Jersey-born drummer turned singer/songwriter Pete Yorn grew up in a very musical household that encouraged him to pursue his talents at a young age. His brothers Rick and Kevin, who are his senior by six and nine years respectively, played the guitar and drums, and his mother was a concert pianist before becoming a schoolteacher. Yorn learned to play his brother's drum kit by the age of nine and learned the guitar from a friend at a summer camp at age 12. His early major influences include Johnny Marr (the Smiths), Peter Buck (R.E.M.), and Morrissey, as well as metal bands like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest, and his all-time favorite songwriter is Lou Reed.
Pete Yorn (b. July 27, 1975) is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist. He has been compared to Bruce Springsteen. He has released two albums: Musicforthemorningafter (2001) and Day I Forgot (2003).

Pete Yorn is proof that fairy tales do come true. The 26-year-old drummer turned singer/songwriter landed a record deal after an impromptu performance of his song, "Life on a Chain," for a Columbia Records A&R person. Yorn moved to Los Angeles, CA, in 2000 where he began writing music for film and television. Things heated up when Yorn scored for the 2000 Farrelly Brothers film Me, Myself, & Irene, starring Jim Carrey. Among Yorn's accomplishments, his song "Strange Condition" also appears on the Elektra soundtrack to the film and Yorn's "Just Another" is featured on the compilation album for the WB television series Dawson's Creek, Songs From Dawson's Creek , Vol. 2. Yorn co-produced his 2001 solo debut album, Musicforthemorningafter (Columbia), with Brad Wood (Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins, Liz Phair, Sunny Day Real Estate) and R. Walt Vincent, while playing the bulk of the instruments himself. Yorn went on to tour the world for 18 months, allowing Musicforthemorningafter to go gold. In spring 2003, he returned with the earnest Day I Forgot.
Yorn finally landed a record deal after an impromptu acoustic performance of his song, "Life On A Chain," for a Columbia Records executive. He co-produced his debut album, musicforthemorningafter, with producer Brad Wood (Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins, Liz Phair, Sunny Day Real Estate), which eventually went gold and backed by an 18-month worldwide tour. The stunning debut was largely recorded in R. Walt Vincent's Culver City, California garage with the North Jersey perfectionist playing almost all the instruments himself. Yorn has partnered up with Rami Jaffee of the Wallflowers and March Dauer of the Jukebox Junkies to form their own label called Trampoline Records. He returned in spring of 2003 with his greatly anticipated sophomore effort, Day I Forgot.
