Go Pujols

Albert Pujols is the player of the hour. This week he was named the NL most valuable player. What a season he had – batted .357, 37 home runs, and 116 RBI’s in 148 games. Not only was he named most valuable player with these great stats but he did all that with an injured right elbow that he struggled with for most of the season. In fact there is a chance that he might need a complete reconstruction of the elbow.

In addition to his most valuable player announcement this week Pujos took on another big role. He added his star power to aid St. Louis in acquiring a MLS (major league soccer). Between his star power and a huge undisclosed financial investment, St. Louis hopes to increase its chances of acquiring the franchise by 2011. Pujos himself admits to being a big soccer fan and is very excited about this new endeavor.

There are several other cities competing for only 2 more expansion teams, and decisions hope to be known by the end of March 2009. If the team does come to St. Louis a new stadium will be built in Collinsville, IL which is right outside St. Louis. Collinsville has already approved a tax increment and building will take place once the city knows if they have been chosen.

So it was a big week for the 2 time MVP as well as St. Louis. The new team would be a great addition to the community.
