Character Games or the NFL Week 16 Preview
Without the question, the biggest game this week has to be the New York Giants-Carolina Panthers game on Sunday night. It has the two top tiered teams, it has something worth playing for (the number one spot in the NFC side of the postseason), and it has a big market team playing (the Giants).
After watching the Giants limp though the game and watching Eli Manning going down eight times, I have to give the edge to the Panthers. The Carolina Panthers have the running game at full strength and have a star receiver. Basically, they look like the Giants half a season ago. New York has to deal with Brandon Jacobs’s injury and the loss of Plaxico Burress. I think this game will sap all the good feeling out of Giants Stadium to prompt another improbable Super Bowl run.
The game I actually want to see is the Atlanta Falcons – Minnesota Vikings game. Both teams are desperate for a win. The Minnesota Vikings want to shore up the NFC North before playing the Giants next week (by then they could be healthy enough to put up a fight). The Atlanta Falcons need the win to remain in the playoff hunt. They need either a Cowboys loss or a Bucs defeat to have any hope.
I am also curious about the Pittsburgh Steelers match up with the Tennessee Titans. The Titans have been dominant the entire year. The Steelers offense has seemed to struggle recently. Although the Titans would like the game to clinch the division, the AFC North champion Steelers almost need this game to prove to themselves that they are for real.
The last game I want to see is the Cincinnati Bengals versus the Cleveland Browns. Two teams from Ohio, to awful teams, wasn’t this supposed to be over after the 1990s. I would only watch this game to play a drinking game Edwards No Hands.
