Mariah Carey getting back on the acting horse again. After receiving dismal reviews from her last acting stint in the movie “Glitter”, Mariah Carey is giving acting another try in her newest movie, “Push”. The movie is currently being shown at the Sundance Film Festival and the movie and Mariah are getting great reviews. The movie, which is based on the book “Sapphire, “is a tough gritty movie and through the anger of the main character, hope is found. The story is about a teenage girl who is pregnant with her father’s child (again). She cannot read or write and her home life as one might imagine is unimaginable. She has a tyrant mother who is played by Mo’ Nique. The teenage girl, Precious Jones, is played by Gabourey Sidibe and is joined by Lenny Kravitz and Sherri Shepherd. The movie is direct by Lee Daniels who produced the movie “Monster’s Ball” – remember how they made Halle Berry look in that one?
Now if you are a fan of the beautiful sexy Mariah Carey all dolled up you might not even recognize her in this film. She plays a social worker living in Harlem, and there is no glamour in that job. Not only does she not look the same she doesn’t even talk the same. The transformation is incredible. So from Razzie to Oscar, who knows but for now, Mariah can be proud of her performance.
Mariah Carey wasn’t the only one in the family with a movie at Sundance. Her hubby Nick Cannon also has a film there and he is also getting go reviews. Nick is in the new film “Killing Room” where he plays a homeless man. Nicks movie is a horror film with lots of blood and gore. So the power couple stays on top together and enjoyed their time in Utah. As always they partied is up and were seen all over town having a great time. They are currently back in Washington to perform during the Inaugural celebrations.
