The Razzie Nominations are Here

Well after a serious and monumental day of Inaugural celebrations, I think it is time to talk about something else. And what better topic to talk about then this year’s Razzie nominations. Now I am pretty sure many of these will come as no surprise but here are some of this year’s nominees. Mike Myers and his movie “The Love Guru” topped the Razzie list with 7 nominations, including Worst Picture, Worst Actor and Worst Actress. Not far behind with several nominations are Paris Hilton and her movie, “The Hottie and the Nottie”. Like I said no big surprises there. Paris was personally nominated for Worst Actress, as well as for Worst Picture.

Some other Worst Picture Nominees are “Disaster Movie” (the title hits the nail on the head), “The Happening”, “In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale” (remember that one? I thought not), and “Meet the Spartans.” A few big names in the Worst Actor Category include Eddie Murphy in “Meet Dave” (so much for come back ),Al Pacino in “88 Minutes” AND “Righteous Kill”, and another double nominee, Mark Wahlberg for “The Happening” and “Max Payne”. That’s got to hurt! Lastly, Larry the Cable Guy received a nomination for his role in “Witless Protection”.  A few women in the Worst Actress category also received double nods, man when it rains if pours. Kate Hudson was nominated for her poor acting in “Fools Gold” and “My Best Friend’s Girl”. And new mom, Jessica Alba, for her two roles in “The Eye” and “The Love Guru”. Cameron Diaz was nominated for her poor performance in “What Happens in Vegas” and the entire female cast from “The Women” was nominated (Jada Pinkett Smith, Debra Messing, Eva Mendes and Annette Bening). Great cast, disappointing acting that is for sure.
Another disappointing category which should have been great movies but were nominated in the Worst Prequel, Remake, Rip Off or Sequel category. Those movies include, “The Day the Earth Blowed Up Real Good”, “Disaster Movie” and “Meet the Spartans”, “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” , “Speed Racer” and ,”The Clone Wars”. Were those some snoozers of what?
I know these will be some tough choices to pick the winner or is it losers? Did you know that The Razzies are chosen by 687 voters which are more than the number of people who cast their vote for the Golden Globes?  The Razzies will be handed out in Los Angeles on February 21st which is the day before the Oscars.
